My name is Lucas Kana Peterson, I was born on Molokai and grew up on Maui. I studied Photography at MCC and UH Manoa. I fell in love with making pictures right away. My family builds houses. I do too, but I write in my spare time and always have my camera. I started the business to get out of an age old prophecy, "like father, like son." My dad is my best friend and the greatest person I've ever known. Being a carpenter takes discipline and strength, and he has constantly displayed both. I've taken the hard lessons I've learned from construction to my work with pictures. I won't waste any time on theory. Most people say taking a good photograph is about being in the right place at the right time. This is true, but if I were any good I'd let the photographs speak for themselves. I try to be in the right place every time. I catch people being themselves and at their best. That's my job.
